Macmillan Coffee Morning

On Friday 27th September, Seals class will be hosting a coffee morning in support of Macmillan cancer research.

Macmillan is almost entirely funded by donations and simply cannot support the growing number of people with cancer who need them without the public’s help. Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. There are over 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and this is set to grow to almost 4 million by 2030.

The coffee morning will be open from 9.30am until 11.30am and we would like to invite parents, carers and friends of the school to come along and join us in raising money for this fantastic charity.  As well if you would like to donate a cake or cakes if would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks for your support,

Annual Flu Immunisations

Your child’s annual flu vaccination is due to be given next term.

This vaccination is recommended to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be an unpleasant illness and sometimes causes serious complications. Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable family and friends by preventing the spread of flu.

Please click on the following link to complete the online consent form for your child(ren):

You will need to enter the following code to ensure the completed form can be correctly allocated to your child’s school: EE142666

The vaccination date allocated to your school is 10th October however; all schools will be visited for a second time prior to the end of term in December.

The vaccination is free and for most children is a quick and simple spray up the nose.  For people aged 18 and above, this will be an injection. This vaccine is a yearly vaccine.  All vaccinated children will be given a sticker or an ink stamp on their hand.

For further information please follow this link to the School Aged Immunisation Service Flu page

If you have any queries please contact the healthcare team on 01775 652144

*If your child becomes wheezy or has their asthma medication increased after you complete the consent form, please contact the healthcare team on the above number.*

If you decide you do not want to vaccinate your child against flu, please also complete the consent form giving the reason. This will help us plan and improve the service.

Coffee Afternoon

I would like to use this opportunity to introduce myself properly to you all, my name is Anna Laverty and I will be taking over the role of Home School Liaison at John Fielding School. I appreciate that I have some very big shoes to fill, but I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children over the coming year.

I am very keen to keep up with the coffee mornings that Janice used to run, as I think it would be a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. Due to space in school, we are going to have to move the time around and offer a coffee afternoon instead this year… but don’t worry, there will still be cake!

I am hoping to get the coffee afternoons up and running as soon as possible, with our first one being Friday 11th October at 1pm. We can use this time to get to know each other, catch up from the summer and discuss what the speakers you would like for the coming academic year.
