John Fielding Special School Governing Body Members

Daran Bland - Head Teacher Governor

Governors

I was born in North London moved to Lincolnshire in 2002. I have been a teacher for over 22 years. During that time I have worked in both mainstream and special schools. I was appointed Head Teacher at The Priory School in 2005 and then Executive Head Teacher across both The Priory and Garth Special Schools in 2007. Since 2015 my Executive Headship responsibilities have expanded to include The John Fielding Special School.

We are in this job to provide the best that we can for the pupils and families we serve. What excites me is the ability that all schools have to learn from one another. Being the head of three schools has provided lots of opportunity to share best practice and learn from the things that don’t go so well! In November 2016 I was appointed as a National Leader of Education.  As Head Teacher Governor I am committed to working with staff, parents and the Local Governing Body to ensure that outcomes for pupils at John Fielding School are excellent, the school is as vibrant as it can possibly be and that everything possible is done to prepare children for their adult lives.

Dave Foster – Acting Chair of Governors

I have lived in the Boston area for a period in excess of 18 years and for a substantial part of that, my youngest of 3 children who has profound learning difficulties and medical needs, has attended John Fielding School. During the phase that the school was looking into becoming part of the expanding CIT academies family, I became motivated to try and ensure that the children and staff at the school were going to achieve the best possible outcome in participating in that process and so offered my time to represent their best interests. That was 3 years ago.

The role of Governor is privileged whilst rewarding as the focus is to ensure that the children, parents, staff and the school thrives on all levels and is fully accepted and supported by the local diverse community. We have an excellent team of teachers and teaching assistants and are proud to acknowledge the valued work and support they do for the children and the school.

The recent Ofsted inspection reflects the values of the school. There is a lot of exciting changes occurring for the children with additional support needs in Lincolnshire and I am pleased to able to see in and become part of those much needed changes that will create a new school which in design, will be fit for purpose.

If any parent would like to discuss any aspect of their child's needs, the school in general or the role of Governor then please contact the school.

Janice Cotgreave - Co-opted Governor

Demi Weir - Staff Governor

Katie Tarry - Parent Governor

Hello! My name is Katie Tarry and I am a Parent Governor here at John Fielding School. I have lived in Boston for nearly 20 years and am involved with a number of charitable and community based projects. I have 3 children with the youngest having complex learning difficulties and who attends John Fielding School. He has taught me many things in particular the need to be strong and embrace the issues associated with additional support needs and champion the difficulties he faces every single day.

I hope to be an asset to the dedicated team that makes up the Governing Board and a voice for those who need to be heard. Should any parent need advice or assistance on a matter I can help with, then please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Esther Lockley - Community Governor

We made the big move from the Cotswold’s to Boston in 2017 with my work as the youth and Children’s worker for Holy Trinity Boston Church. I have many years’ experience in working with young people from all different backgrounds, cultures and communities. In my current role I dedicate some of my time to working in the local schools, whether it’s through delivering assemblies, lessons or supporting young people through drop-in sessions and mentoring.

I have a desire to bring people together from all walks of life and see my role as community governor as an opportunity to do this. I would also like to help support the school in giving a voice to young people who may sometimes feel like they are not heard.
