Careers and Pathways to Adulthood at The John Fielding School

Careers Manager:  Richard Gamman, Head of School

Careers Lead:  Lucy Allen, Dolphins Class Teacher

At The John Fielding School, we strive to ensure all pupils are fully prepared for adulthood and life after The John Fielding. This preparation takes many forms, due to the complex and bespoke needs and abilities of our pupils.

Despite destinations being varied for our pupils Post 19, we ensure the transition process is rigorous and individual - to cater for our pupil’s bespoke needs.

Transition meetings, in addition to EHCP Review meetings, are held with parents/carers and external professionals Post 14, we offer Pathways into Adulthood Information Evenings to which all parents/carers are invited and all students Post 14 access a rolling programme of inclusion at Boston College and/or adult social care provision in the local community.  This supports our pupils, their parents/carers and staff at school to make informed decisions regarding appropriate adult social care provision and/or further education settings - and the courses pupils would like to study.  Work experience is organised as part of the OCR life and living curriculum for those students able to access supported or independent placements.

The impact of this robust transition process is that successful placements are secured in alternative provision once they leave The John Fielding School.

Destinations for John Fielding School Leavers 2015-2018 can be found under the Attainment and Progress Tab on the school’s website. This document highlights the successful transitions year on year from The John Fielding School.
